Test Case Metrics
Test Case Metrics in Agile
In agile, test case metrics and especially the completion rate of test cases, is an important indication of the progress of the QA effort. Because of the short and frequent iterations of code development and testing, test case metrics can be an early warning sign that the tests are not being completed as expected and that QA needs more time and/or resources.
However, test case metrics can be both a boon and bane to software organizations. Far too many metrics are misused, but a careful selection of test case metrics can give you reliable, actionable information. Mature organizations also understand that metrics are best used for trend warnings, and not as discrete measurements.
