How to Track the Appropriate QA Metrics
Without effective test metrics, QA teams will largely be working in the dark. This information provides some much-needed insight into the efficiency of individual testers and the entire team, as well as giving teams the ability to take action when responding to market change. If this information can't be shared quickly and easily, it makes it even more difficult to hit your deadlines and provide upper management with information when they ask for it.
There are many different data points that testers and developers can track, but there are also select project-level metrics that every team needs to measure to get a good idea of how effective overall QA efforts have been. Some of these metrics include defect open and close rates, requirements coverage, and execution trends by status and user.
