Multimodal Testing and DevOps
Multimodal testing is the recognition that organizations have legacy software which are stable and predictable, and new cutting-edge forms of software products. Both types of software need to be adequately tested, though each type has different quality priorities and expectations.
The practice of DevOps ensures that an enterprise's processes and physical and development environments are set up to deliver as rapidly as possible new builds into production. Traditionally, the separate requirements of testing legacy and new forms of software are done by two different testing groups. But organizing testing around software type is at odds with the principles of DevOps.
