Jive's Distributed QA Team Derives Real Value from Zephyr

The Pain

For the last 4 years, we have been searching for a test case management tool that would allow everyone on our QA team to successfully work together to build and track test case development and execution. We have teams in three different states, three countries and four time zones, actively working on anywhere between five and ten different projects. The tool needed to have a solid, intuitive UI, run as a web application, be accessible on any browser and operating system, allow for multiple team members to work on the same release, allow for quick edits and update of the stored test cases and integrate with our internal issue tracking system, Jira. After disappointing attempts to successfully find and deploy an enterprise-level test case management solution that worked well for our team, we finally landed on Zephyr.

Needs Met

Zephyr offered a web application via a SaaS model which could be used by any tester, anywhere in the world, on any operating system or browser. A huge plus right off the bat! Initial UI evaluations were met with rave reviews, and there was little convincing needed from the test team to move from our old tool to Zephyr, with much excitement. After a brief but informative training session with our Zephyr sales engineer, our test leads were able to easily setup new release cycles and start adding imported test cases to their execution cycles and moved quickly to productive testing.

The Value

As a tester, Zephyr provides you with a quick and easy way to build test cycles and automatically report on requirements test coverage in real time making it simple to provide clear reporting to management and other team members. Managers are able to track the progress of a testing project and see exactly how far through a test cycle their teams are, especially for our off shore teams working in different time zones. This is incredibly useful!

On the whole we are very pleased with the usefulness and capabilities of the Zephyr test suite, and are happy with our decision to purchase the tool.
