Yup, there are quite a few out there and then there's
the big-daddy of them all, Excel! What would we have
done without Excel?
So, why does the world need another Test
Management System? For
all the following reasons.
1. These systems need to work as flexibly as we do -
they really do not
2. As Testers, we are constantly juggling tasks and
switching contexts - our systems need to
accomodate that
3. We spend too much of our time gathering status,
collating them, beautifying and presenting them
4. In this day and age of dispersed test teams, its even
more challenging to share information and data
5. Have you seen the prices of some of the tools out
there??!
6. Do you remember the last tool you used that had a
pleasing, intuitive UI?
Why Us?
Simply put, we've lived through
the pain. At startups, small companies, large companies,
in Engineering Depts and in IT Depts, we've worked the
gamut. We've experienced small teams and large teams,
teams working from a single room to working in 5
different countries and time zones at once, Waterfall
and Agile and everything in between, manual and
automation, white box, black box and 256 shades of gray
box, onsite/offshore/near-shore/outsource models. Like
we said, the whole enchilada.
And we thought deep and hard
about what worked and what didn't, what tools made
sense and what was missing. We thought about how we
communicated and collaborated with each other
before, during and after test cycles. We pondered
over how we could cut down on cutting-n-pasting,
constantly providing status and creating reports,
searching in multiple places, etc. We moaned about
how boring our screens were at work. And we lamented
the fact that it was really difficult to fit our
varied testing lifestyle to the way existing tools
worked. Our real challenges and issues were just not
understood or appreciated.
So we decided to stop feeling
sorry for ourselves and everybody else in the
testing world and decided to build Zephyr, a Next
Generation Test Management System. We have a
ways to go and it might not be completely perfect
right now, but it will get there, because we are a
100% committed to this and we believe we can make a
huge difference in the way we manage our entire
testing process. Please explore Zephyr,
download it, play with it and let us know what
you think. We are after all, in this together.
